LSU and Notre Dame to Meet in Music City Bowl

The LSU Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be playing one another in the Music City Bowl on Tuesday in Nashville. The Tigers are currently -7 favorites to win this game.

LSU is currently at the #22 spot in the Associated Press poll. The team finished the season with an 8-4 record but the 4-4 record in the SEC, combined with finishing in fifth in the West Division, kept the Tigers out from other bowls. The team had big wins against Wisconsin and Mississippi but were also shut out by Arkansas and had a blowout loss to Auburn.

The Tigers are known for having a more defensive stance than other teams in the college ranks. There are only five games this year where the Tigers gave up more than twenty points.

Also, the Tigers put more of a focus on the running game. The Tigers have more than 2,600 rushing yards with Leonard Fournette having 891 yards. Anthony Jennings has a little less than 1,500 passing yards for the season.

Notre Dame had a good start to the season as they won their first six games with a victory over Stanford and a shutout against Michigan among the big highlights for the Fighting Irish. However, the Irish have lost their last four games. These include losses to Arizona State and Louisville to keep them out of the playoff picture altogether.

Everett Golson's Heisman campaign was derailed after tallying fourteen interceptions but he has some strong statistics elsewhere. He has 3,355 passing yards plus 277 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He leads the Irish in rushing touchdowns.

A real concern for the Irish is that kicker Kyle Brindza has a 13-23 record in terms of attempting field goals. He is 5-11 in field goals that are over 40 yards in length.

Overall, the LSU Tigers are going to be the favorites to win this game but it will be challenging considering how the Irish had a good run at the start of the season.
