Silva is from Brazil and fights out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He is a member of the prestigious American Top Team training camp and is a consistent top 10 contender in the light heavyweight UFC gambling class.  Prior to his loss to Evans, Silva scored a knockout win over Keith Jardine by knockout at UFC 102.

The win over Jardine followed a knockout loss to fellow Brazilian Lyoto Machida at UFC 94.  Silva has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is also strong at boxing and Muay Thai.
