Stann is an appealing figure in that he played football at the United States Naval Academy and served in the Marine Corps as an officer upon graduation.  He was awarded the Silver Star, which is the third highest award for battlefield valor.

He received special mention by President Bush for his service and heroism.  He has been involved in ultimate fighting since leaving the service in May of 2008.  Stann fights out of Scranton, PA.

Leben enters action with the UFC 125 lines with a record of 25 wins and 6 losses and has won his last 3 bouts.  He is coming off a win by submission choke over Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116 on July 3 at Las Vegas which won him fight of the nigh honors.
