UFC 118 Betting - Edgar vs. Penn Headline Card

UFC 118 betting anticipation is building rapidly as the Lightweight Championship will highlight the UFC 118 odds board for August 28.

UFC 118 betting fans will have their choice of defending champion Frankie Edgar and challenger BJ Penn with the UFC 118 odds in the Lightweight Championship bout.

There will be three additional bouts on the main card along with a preliminary card of three bouts.  The event is to be held at TD Garden in Boston, home of the Bruins and Celtics.  It will be the first ever UFC event in the state of Massachusetts.

In Heavyweight action Randy Couture will take on James Toney, Kenny Florian will take on Gray Maynard in another Lightweight bout, and Nate Diaz will meet Marcus Davis in a Welterweight fight to complete the main card.

All fighters on the main card are Americans.

On the preliminary card there will be a Middleweight matchup of Brazilians as Demian Maia will take on Mario Miranda.  The rest of the bouts will be between Americans as Dan Miller will fight John Salter in Middleweight action.

Gerald Harris will matchup with Joe Vedepo in another Middleweight bout.  And in Lightweight action Joe Lauzon will take on Gabe Ruediger.

Toney makes for an interesting story with the UFC betting line as he has been a professional boxer since 1988 and was a champion in the Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Cruiserweight, and Heavyweight divisions.  He won the IBA and NABO heavyweight titles in December of 2008.

Earlier this year at UFC 108, the 41-year old Tony was in attendance and met UFC President Dana White.  The two quickly came to terms and Toney has been training with Juanito Ibarra for his mixed martial arts debut.

Taking on Couture will be a tall order as he is a former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion as well as a hall of famer.

Couture is 47 years young and has won his last two bouts.  He lost the UFC Heavyweight title in November of 2008 to Brock Lesnar.

Couture returned to UFC 2008 after a bitter contract dispute the prior year in which he decided to walk away.  He has been a television commentator as well as a fighter in the series.

In the Lightweight championship bout the UFC 118 betting matchup between Edgar and Penn is a rematch from UFC 118 when Edgar won a unanimous decision to take the title belt.
