Sports gambling concerns are mounting about France, who will enter as one of the online sports gambling favorites but also with plenty of news about coaching issues.
World Cup betting fans recall that France made the Final in 2006 under the leadership of Raymond Domenech who is under intense fire due to his erratic lineup selections and bizarre personal behavior. Among the strange things that Domenech has said is that he doesn’t trust Scorpios.
For French fans hoping for a change, however, it’s not going to happen until after the World Cup on July 11. Domenech has had the helm of the France World Cup team since July of 2004.
Domenech is known as an amateur dramatist and astrologer which seems to fit perfectly into the sports gambling frustration of many of his countrymen, players, and fans for his ways.
One thing that cannot be taken from him, however, is that France went toe to toe with eventual World Cup champion Italy in 2006 before losing a shootout after a 1-1 draw.
Many fans were hoping that Laurent Blanc would take over for France in their efforts to beat the World Cup odds but he will get the gig after this year’s tournament. He was serving as coach of Bordeaux before stepping down in order to take over the French national program after the World Cup.
He guided Bordeaux to the French League title in 2009. He was a member of the 1998 French team that won the World Cup and the 2000 European Championship team as well. Bordeaux’s title last year in Blanc’s first season as coach ended a 10 year drought.
Domenech has not won a major sports gambling title in his 25 year coaching career. Many still consider him the best option to serve as coach in the World Cup for France as he at least knows the roster and players.
France will still be a popular team to make a World Cup football bet with and the end to the coaching speculation may serve to help them focus in the end.
