Sports Book Gambling - Ultimate Dream Finals for NBA

Sports book gambling excitement is already at a fever pitch for the NBA Finals as the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers meet in a “Dream” matchup.

Sports book gambling action will begin on June 3 with the Lakers hosting games 1 and 2 of the best of seven on line sports gambling series for the NBA World Championship.

The Lakers and Celtics are the two biggest names and most historically successful teams in the history of basketball betting.  The Boston Celtics have won 17 NBA World Championships while the Los Angeles Lakers have won 15 NBA World Championships, including last year’s.

The Lakers will be attempting to extract revenge for their 4-2 series loss to the Celtics in 2008 in the NBA Finals.

This will be the 12th time that the Lakers and Celtics have met in sports book gambling action with the NBA Finals.  So far Boston has been dominant as they have won 9 out of the previous 11 matchups with Los Angeles in the NBA Finals.

The Lakers and Celtics betting on basketball rivalry is best known for the days of Larry Bird versus Magic Johnson with three matchups in the 1980’s.  Bird and the Celtics beat the Lakers 4-3 in 1984 while the Lakers with Magic Johnson defeated the Celtics 4-2 in 1985 and again in 1987 4-2.

Older sports book gambling fans will recall, however, that the two teams had quite a heated rivalry going in the 1960’s as they met 6 times in the NBA Finals during that decade with Boston winning each time.

Bill Russell and Bob Cousy were the stars for Boston while the Lakers featured such big names as Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.  In 1962, 1966, and 1969 the matchups went the full seven games.

In the 2008 NBA betting matchup Boston’s Paul Pierce was named the Most Valuable Player of the series.  The Celtics blew out the Lakers in the climatic game 6 clinch with a 131-92 win as Ray Allen tied a single game record for three point field goals with seven.  It was the largest margin of victory for a NBA Finals clinching game.
