Sports Gambling - Stanley Cup Playoffs Open Wednesday

Sports gambling excitement and thrills unlike any other will begin on Wednesday, April 14th as on line sports gambling fans can wager on the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Sports gambling handicappers will have a superb field of teams to choose from and the on line sports gambling prospects of many of the teams look good. There are few events in all of sports gambling that can match the breathtaking excitement of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The NHL Playoffs feature bigger upsets than any other sport as top seeds are routinely knocked off by bottom seeds, as was the case last year when the Anaheim Ducks took out the San Jose Sharks.  A hot goaltender can carry a team all the way to the Promised Land over other teams that were considered deeper and better.

This makes for a unique sports gambling challenge in which laying big money on favorites is often dangerous while taking solid underdogs is often a top value.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs will also attract action from many gamblers that do not normally bet on hockey.  Such gamblers often gravitate to the better known teams such as this year’s defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins or the long time traditional power Detroit Red Wings.

This is where a solid handicapper can pick up additional value on other teams that are often ignored by the public.

The Penguins and Washington Capitals are the co-favorites to win the Eastern Conference.  Washington is the top seed in the East and is led by one of the biggest NHL names in sports gambling; Alexander Ovechkin.  Ovechkin was the NHL’s third leading scorer with 109 points.

Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby is just as big of a sports gambling name.  Crosby led the NHL in goals with 51 and is considered the best all around player.  He was the hero for Canada in their Olympic gold medal winning game against the United States.

The Western Conference will be led by a trio of top teams that are well respected in sports gambling.  The Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, and Detroit Red Wings are the top choices on the board in the West.
