Sports Gambling - Sharks Don't Slip This Year

Sports gambling handicappers were stunned last year when the top seeded San Jose Sharks stumbled in their playoff series against eight-seeded Anaheim.

Sports gambling fans were reminded why the NHL Playoffs are one of the most challenging handicapping endeavors in all of online sports gambling. The San Jose Sharks were again the top seed to open the 2010 NHL Western Conference Playoffs and faced the eight seed Colorado Avalanche in their first round sports gambling matchup.

The Sharks were stunned in the opening game of the series with a 1-2 loss that had San Jose Sharks and many gamblers fearing that they would choke yet again this year.  But San Jose collected itself and scored a do-or-die 6-5 overtime winner in game two to stop the flood gates and spark them to a 4-2 series win.

San Jose showed their sports gambling superiority as a team towards the end of the series as they wound down the Avalanche with a 5-0 win at home in game five and then a 5-2 win at Colorado for the cop d’ grace in game six.

Center Joe Pavelski was one of the heroes in San Jose’s opening round win over Colorado with the hockey odds Pavelski had 5 goals and 3 assists with 2 game winning goals to catapult San Jose out of trouble.  Pavelski had 25 goals and 26 assists during the regular season.

Left wing Ryan Clowe was, in essence, the quarterback of the Sharks and a top sports gambling asset as he had 1 goal and a team best 7 assists.  Lowe had 19 goals and 38 assists during the regular season.

Right winger Devin Setoguchi was also impressive in that first round sports gambling matchup with Colorado as he had 3 goals and 3 assists with 1 game winning goal.

One of the key sports gambling elements of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is that lesser known players will often step up to stardom while superstars are often quiet.

San Jose’s top two players, Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton, were not all that effective against Colorado.  Neither player scored a goal.  Heatley had 4 assists while Thornton had 3 assists.

Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov had a 1.76 goals against average and a save percentage of .926 against Colorado.
