Sports book gambling fans did not expect Orlando to repeat as the top team in the East but so far the Magic have been in excellent on line sports gambling form.
Orlando began the basketball betting post season where they left off last year as they dominated their first two playoff series with four game sweeps over the Charlotte Bobcats and the Atlanta Hawks as they went a combined 8-0 straight up and 7-1 against the spread.
Guard Jameer Nelson emerged as one of the leading assets for the Magic as he led them in scoring after those two rounds with an average of 21.1 points per game. From there the Magic received excellent scoring balance as Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter, and Dwight Howard all had at least 15.0 points per game average while Howard was a monster on the glass with an average of 11.1 rebounds per game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were the betting on basketball favorites to win the Eastern Conference this year, as was the case last year. Cleveland looked strong after the opening round in which they beat the Chicago Bulls 4-1 although they got the money in just 2 of their 5 games in the series.
The Cavaliers were in a dogfight with the Boston Celtics in the second round as the two teams split the first 4 games of their series both straight up and against the spread. With a mark of just 4-5 against the spread in the playoffs Cleveland was proving to be a poor value because of their public popularity.
The Boston Celtics had a NBA betting record of 6-3 against the spread in the post season and were proving to be a dangerous underdog against the Cavaliers. Rajon Rondo was having a great post season with 17.9 points per game as well as over 11 assists per game.
Once again in the NBA playoffs there has been a great sports book gambling lesson on board value and how public perception and expectations can alter the numbers and the money from where many expected them to be.
