Online Sports Gambling - Western Conference Tips and Trends

Online sports gambling momentum is building towards the NBA Western Conference Playoffs as the Los Angeles Lakers will again be the heavy favorite.

Online sports gambling handicappers have plenty of excellent choices in the West besides LA, however, for the playoffs and teams that may bring much more sports gambling value. The Los Angeles Lakers are the defending world champions and one of the most popular teams on the online sports gambling board in any sport.

Los Angeles will be the top seed in the playoffs for 2010.  All of this serves to draw way to much attention and casual money towards the Lakers with the affect of destroying their value.

Los Angeles was just 16-22-1 against the spread at home this year and was 29-36-2 against the number as a chalk.  The Lakers also trended under with just 32 out of 79 games going over the total.

The Phoenix Suns had a highly profitable online sports gambling season as they went 45-32-2 against the spread.  Part of the reason for the Suns’ success was the low expectations of gamblers at the beginning of the season, which served to enhance their board value.

Another major basketball betting money winner in the West this year were the Utah Jazz.  Utah went 48-29-3 against the spread, including 26-12-2 against the board at home.

The Denver Nuggets are a great online sports gambling example of how high expectations can kill board value.  Denver made the Western Conference Finals last year and was favored to do so again in 2010.

The also have a big name super star in Carmelo Anthony.  All of this brought a lot of public attention and dollars which served to transform Denver into an online sports gambling overlay as they finished 33-41-6 against the spread and an even worse 24-34-2 as a chalk.

The San Antonio Spurs, on the other hand, remained one of the most consistent teams on the NBA board.  These perennial title contenders made a modest profit at 43-36-1 against the spread.
