Online Sports Gambling - Streaking Changes in NHL Race

Online sports gambling fans have seen the Montreal Canadiens become one of the hottest teams with a 5 game winning streak that has them in playoff contention.

Online sports gambling handicappers have seen the Atlanta Thrashers suffer a slump of a 6 game losing streak that has them out of a certain playoff spot. The Phoenix Coyotes are coming closer to securing a sports book gambling playoff spot as they were on a 5 game winning streak. At Olympic break time it looked as if Montreal would be out of the running for the online sports gambling post season race but they jumped right back in with that streak to improve their overall record to 35-29-4-2.

Two of their wins were in shootouts and they defeated Eastern Conference online sports gambling rivals Boston and Tampa Bay.  Montreal’s offense was slumping throughout the season but was the big reason for their turnaround as they scored at least 4 goals in 5 out of their 6 wins.

The Atlanta Thrashers online sports gambling losing streak put them below the .500 mark with a record of 28-29-5-6 and out of a playoff spot if the season ended now.  A dramatic drop off in scoring was the main reason for the slump as the Thrashers failed to score more than 2 goals in those 6 games.

Atlanta has been exposed as a team with a thin offensive attack and with little depth.  The Phoenix Coyotes continue to be the surprise team of the NHL and with a record of 42-22-1-4 they are nearly certain to be a playoff team.

Defense is what has put the Coyotes into post season contention as they rank 2nd overall in the NHL for goals against average and allowed just 6 goals in their 5 game winning streak with two shutouts.

Starter Ilya Bryzgalov had a 2.27 goals against average and 8 shutouts for the season.  The Coyotes will likely need more offense, however, come playoff time.
