Gambling in Sports - Sharks Shake Off Past Failures

Gambling in sports on the Stanley Cup Playoffs is one of the greatest challenges in all of sportsgambling as there are more upsets than in any other pro sport.

Gambling in sports lessons on that fact continued this year as the number one seeded Washington Capitals suffered a sportsgambling shocker in losing to eight seeded Montreal in the opening round.

The San Jose Sharks suffered an equally devastating loss in the 2009 hockey betting post season as they were the top seed in the Western Conference before being upset by the eight seed Anaheim Ducks.

The Sharks failure last year brought up considerable concerns and question marks about their character and overall ability as a true contender but San Jose has been able to put last year’s failure behind them as they have made the Western Conference Finals after an impressive second round series win over the perennial power of the West in the Detroit Red Wings.

San Jose dominated Detroit in their series with four online hockey betting payouts in five games.  The Sharks were quite shaky in their opening round series against the Colorado Avalanche as they lost the opening game of the series and then needed overtime to salvage game two and perhaps their season.

After losing game three to the Avalanche the Sharks never looked back and took off with 6 wins in the 7 games that followed to make the NHL’s Final Four.

Center Joe Pavelski has emerged as a leading star for the Sharks in the post season as he has impressed everyone that has bet on hockey with San Jose in the playoffs with a team leading 9 goals and 15 points overall.

Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has been strong as well with a 2.43 goals against average and has improved as the playoffs have gone on.  Veterans Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton have been key contributors as well.  Heatley had 2 goals and 9 assists while Thornton had 3 goals and 8 assists.

San Jose has been able to demonstrate that a team can rebound from a devastating loss to become a leading gambling in sports asset the following season.  As is often the case in hockey a great team needs to fail in the playoffs before eventually rising to succeed in later seasons.
