Gambling Sports - NHL Notebook - Season of Surprises Continues

Gambling sports fans can rip on the New York Islanders for many things but not at all about their overall board value with the sports gambling odds.

Gambling sports handicappers continue to be amazed at the Islanders ranking as the most profitable NHL team on the sports gambling odds board so far in 2010. The Islanders had a gambling sports record of 23-24-3-5 but their actual adjusted mark with the sports gambling odds was 35-19 as they continue to provide huge sports betting profits as one of the most dangerous dogs on the NHL gambling sports board.

It only takes a gambling sports win or two for the Islanders to stay in the black despite a mediocre record.  That is because when they win they are usually overwhelming gambling sports underdogs and are rarely favored when they lose, thus cutting down on the red ink.

A great gambling sports example would be from January 9 when the Islanders scored a 5-4 win at Phoenix as +$175 dogs.  Speaking of gambling sports surprises the two teams from the past two Stanley Cup Finals were two of the biggest money losers on the board at the post-halfway mark of the NHL season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings have the opposite gambling sports factor than the Islanders as they are constant overlays that bring little or no value to the board and a lot of red ink when they lose.

In addition, Detroit is facing the prospects of missing the playoffs as they have been struggling to maintain the eight and final spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Western Conference is loaded with surprise teams as the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Phoenix Coyotes all are in playoff position and in the black on the board after failing miserably past year.

LA has one of the up and coming stars to watch in Anze Kopitar as he led the team in scoring with 23 goals and 32 assists.  Phoenix is a great story as they spent the summer in bankruptcy and limbo.

Their 8th ranked defense has been the difference.  Nashville was also in financial limbo just two seasons back but the Preds have become the 3rd most profitable team on the board. Hard work and balance are the reason why.

Colorado’s ranking of 9th for both scoring and defense has provided the balance for their unexpected improvement.  Craig Anderson has provided 26 wins in goal.
