Gambling in Sports - Eastern Conference Heats Up

Gambling in sports action has been fast, furious and quite dramatic in the NHL Eastern Conference Playoffs as handicappers face a great challenge.

Gambling in sports reminders about just how wild, unpredictable, and even the NHL Playoffs can be came in short order with plenty of on line sports gambling surprises. Perhaps more than in any other sport the NHL Playoffs are a gambling in sports crap shoot in which a top seed can easily go down to a bottom seed and with few people being surprised when it happens.

All you need is a hot goaltender and a hot hand for scoring and you have a team that can go far into the playoffs and do a lot of damage, or for that matter, make a lot of money if you can find them early.

The first big gambling in sports upset occurred on the first night of the Eastern Conference Playoffs as the Ottawa Senators upended the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4.  Pittsburgh was a $214 chalk with the NHL odds and those who made the overlay lived to regret it as the Penguins came out flat.

On that same night in another big upset the Philadelphia Flyers stole a game from the New Jersey Devils 2-1 as gamblers regretted laying out the $156 on the home standing Devils.

The gambling in sports shockers were only just beginning in the East, however, as on the very next night the Washington Capitals, who were $278 chalks at home against the Montreal Canadiens, suffered a 2-3 loss to get off to the worst possible start in their series that many believed they would sweep.

On Saturday the Buffalo Sabres were upset at home as $157 chalks in a 3-5 loss to the Boston Bruins as that series evened up at one game apiece.

In less than one week the Eastern Conference has shown just how hard a playoff hockey gambling in sports underdog can bite and how dangerous it is to lay out big money with favorites.

Once again we were reminded why it’s always a smart move when gambling in sports on the NHL Playoffs to look first at the dog.
