Detroit was one of the top offensive teams in the NHL as they ranked 2nd for goal scoring but just 23rd for goals against.  The Wings swept the Phoenix Coyotes in 4 games in the first round of the playoffs.

San Jose is coming off a hard fought 4-2 series win with Los Angeles as they clinched a win with the hockey lines by beating the Kings 4-3 in overtime at LA in game 6.
