NHL playoffs handicappers were stunned when Washington was eliminated in the first round of the hockey playoffs last year but the Caps have tightened their defense and look like a champ so far.

The Washington Capitals will host the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 2 of their best of seven Eastern Conference Semi Final series that will start at 7 PM ET with a telecast on Versus.  Sports Gambling will have side and total odds on this matchup so be sure to have your account open and ready for action today!

Tampa Bay enters this series as perhaps the biggest surprise team of all with the hockey gambling odds. Detroit Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman took over as general manager of the Lightning and had immediate results as Tampa Bay finished an impressive 46-25-5-6 and was 21-14-4-2 on the road.

Tampa Bay ranked 8th in the NHL for goal scoring as center Steven Stamkos had 45 goals while right wing Martin St. Louis had 31.  The Bolts were just 22nd in the NHL for goals against but were excellent in their first round 4-3 series win over Pittsburgh as Dwayne Roloson had a 1.77 goals against average with a shutout.

Washington is coming off a 4-1 series win over the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs with the hockey lines.  The Caps spent the regular season building a defense that could win in the playoffs and it paid off as they finished 4th for goals against in the league this year.

Goaltender Michal Neuvirth had a 1.38 goals against average with 4 wins against the Rangers and a shutout.  Alexander Ovechkin, the superstar left wing, had 3 goals in the series.

Washington has dominated their head to head series with Tampa Bay as they have won 16 out of the last 20 matchups between the two teams heading into this NHL playoffs series as 6 of the last 8 matchups between the teams went under the total.  The Caps beat the Bolts in 11 of their last 14 games as a host in the series with 3 of the last 4 games in that span going under the total.
