NHL playoffs are looking less likely for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they have simply not had enough firepower to be a serious contender for the 2011 hockey playoffs.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will host the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night with a starting time of 7 PM ET.  Sports Gambling will have side and total odds on this matchup that is of major importance for the Blackhawks so be sure and open your account today for action!

Chicago had a record of 40-25-3-5 with the hockey betting odds and was the top scoring team in the NHL while ranking 14th for goals against.  A big problem for the Blackhawks was the loss of center Patrick Sharp who was out until early April with a leg issue.

Chicago was ranked 14th in the NHL for goals against average although Corey Crawford has played well since taking the starting job away from Marty Turco.  Crawford had a 2.28 goals against average with 29 wins and 4 shutouts.

Center Jonathan Toews had 30 goals and 44 assist to lead the Hawks while fellow center Patrick Sharp had a team best 34 goals.  Chicago had the NHL’s 2nd ranked power play but was ranked 25th for penalty killing.  The Hawks were 23-14 at home this season.

Columbus was 33-30-4-7 with the hockey betting line and was 17-14-3-4 on the road.  The Jackets went over the total in 17 of their 38 away games.  Columbus was weak on both ends of the ice as they ranked 21st for goal scoring and 23rd for goals against.

The Jackets paid out in just 2 of 10 games from March 7 through March 24 and went under the total in 5 of the last 7 games of that stretch.

It is interesting to note that the Blue Jackets have paid out in 4 of their last 7 meetings with the Blackhawks.  This head to head series has gone over the total in 7 of the last 9 meetings between these two teams.

Columbus was a +50000 long shot at Sports-Gambling to win the Stanley Cup while Chicago was a +1500 choice to win the 2011 NHL playoffs.
