NHL betting fans again believe that Detroit can go all the way to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup in June as they have proven to be an excellent and proven commodity to bet hockey with again this year.

The Buffalo Sabres will host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday with a start time of 7 PM ET.  Sports Gambling will have side and total odds on this highly important inter-conference matchup of playoff contenders so be sure and open your account today for action.

Detroit was second only to the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference playoff race with a record of 36-16-4-2 with the hockey odds.  The Red Wings were 19-8-1-1 on the road and went under the total in 15 out of 29 away games.  Detroit won 7 out of 10 games from January 26 through February 18 to remain in good form.

The Red Wings had the top ranked offense in the NHL while the defense was inconsistent and a growing concern as they ranked 19th in the league for goals against.  Left wing Henrik Zetterberg led Detroit with 17 goals and 48 assists.

Center Pavel Datsyuk had 17 goals and 31 assists while right wing Johan Franzen had a team best 26 goals.  Jimmy Howard had a 2.80 goals against average as the number one netminder with 2 shutouts and 29 wins.

Buffalo had a NHL online betting record of 27-24-6 and was just 12-14-2 at home to rank as an especially poor value.  The Sabres went under the total in just 12 out of 28 home games. Buffalo was ranked 13th for goal scoring and a very disappointing 21st for goals against as US Olympic hero Ryan Miller had a 2.74 goals against average with 3 shutouts.

To be fair, Miller has not had a lot of support in front of him but the results are still less than what was expected.  Left wing Thomas Vanek had 22 goals and 27 assists while right wing Drew Stafford was another key NHL betting asset with 24 goals.  Buffalo lost 3 out of 4 games from February 13 through February 18 and was struggling to stay in the playoff chase.
