NHL Wagering: Calgary Flames vs. Atlanta Thrashers

NHL wagering Sunday includes an inter-conference matchup of first and worst in bet on hockey action from Atlanta as the Flames meet the Thrashers.

NHL wagering momentum is with Calgary on their drive to the playoffs while the Thrashers have been a better than expected value to bet on hockey with.  The Calgary Flames have been on a solid NHL wagering run as of late.

From February 12 through February 27 Calgary got the cash in 6 out of 7 games.  The Flames had an overall NHL wagering mark of 37-18-4-2 straight up and 30-31 against the hockey lines.  Calgary has been one of the best offensive teams that you can bet on hockey with as they ranked 7th overall in the NHL.

Their defense on the other hand, ranked in the middle of the pack at 16th.  The Flames went on something of an “under” NHL wagering stretch from February 7 through February 27 as they went over the total in just 3 out of 10 games.

The Flames are one of the best penalty killing teams in all of NHL wagering as they ranked 3rd best in the league for that category.  Jarome Iginla has been a major NHL wagering asset for the Flames as he had 24 goals and 43 assists to lead the team with 67 points.

Another reason to bet on hockey with Calgary has been Michael Cammalleri who had 32 goals and 28 assists.  Rene Bourque has also made his share of NHL wagering contributions to the Flames with 21 goals.

Goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff had a 2.70 goals against average and a save percentage of .909 as he has played 57 games for Calgary.  The workhorse Kiprusoff will be a key factor in Calgary’s future against the hockey lines.

The Atlanta Thrashers had an overall NHL wagering mark of 22-34-5-1 straight up but were 33-29 against the odds as they get better than deserved value on the NHL wagering boards from the line makers looking to entice action their way.

Atlanta’s defense ranked 29th in the league and is their main NHL wagering weakness.  Atlanta has been a solid “over” team as they posted just 23 games under the total out of 62.
