NHL Hockey Betting - Blues at Ducks

NHL hockey betting on Saturday will include a western conference NHL betting odds matchup of playoff teams from last year as Anaheim hosts St. Louis.

NHL hockey betting handicappers saw both teams break even with the NHL betting odds to start the year.  Both are expected to again contend for the 2010 playoffs.  The St. Louis Blues entered the NHL hockey betting season with high expectations after their phenomenal stretch run of last year that put them into the NHL betting odds post season.

The Blues won their first two NHL hockey betting matchups this year in Europe against the Detroit Red Wings but then lost the next two games that followed at home to Atlanta and Los Angeles.

The Blues got off to slow starts in all four of their games to start the year including both of those home NHL hockey betting losses and that had coach Andy Murray concerned.  “I’m very concerned about our first two periods”, said Murray.  “We just talked about it as a team. Obviously it’s a major point… four first periods in a row”.

St. Louis left winger Alex Steen agreed with his coach.  “We’re getting away from our game”, said Steen.  “We’re not coming out of the gate hard enough”.  The Blues ranked in the middle of the NHL hockey betting stats for both offense and defense.  The Anaheim Ducks were 2-2-1 to start the NHL hockey betting season.

The sluggish start of their offense was of NHL hockey betting concern as the Ducks ranked only 25th in scoring.  Their defense is what has kept them in the NHL hockey betting race as they ranked 10th in goals against as goaltender Jonas Hiller had a tidy 2.28 goal against average.

Star center Ryan Getzlaf was off to a slow start with just 2 assists in 5 games.  Teemu Selanne had a nice start with 4 goals but wasn’t getting much help from the rest of the lineup.  This will be the second game of a six game home stand for the Ducks.  The Blues will travel to Pittsburgh after this one before returning home.
