The deep lineup was also bolstered by a pair of right wingers as Chris Stewart had 11 goals and 14 assists while David Jones had 12 goals and 8 assists.  Peter Budaj and Craig Anderson split time at goal with neither netminder having a goals against average below 3.00.

Edmonton was struggling with a mark of 12-15-1-5 with the NHL betting lines and was just 6-8-0-2 at home.  The Oilers went under in 9 of their first 16 home games and ranked 30th in the NHL for goals against and also 30th in the league for penalty killing while ranking 19th for goals scored.
