Hockey bet fans were most intrigued by Toronto’s hiring of Brian Burke to run the show. Burke, as many hockey betting enthusiasts recall, built the Anaheim Ducks into Stanley Cup champions. Hockey bet experts also know, however, that taking over Toronto is not for the faint of heart.
Perhaps the most under-achieving franchise in all of sports, the Maple Leafs have consistently fallen short of hockey betting expectations and are often one of the most overrated teams on the hockey bet board.
It appears, however, that this season has caused many in the hockey betting community to say “enough is enough” as the Maple Leafs have actually had their value bump up a notch on the hockey bet board, despite their sluggish start. Toronto had an overall record of 11-12-2-4 straight up and 16-13 against the hockey odds for a small profit.
Toronto had an over/under hockey bet mark of 16-11-2 over the total including a road mark of 9-6 over the number. From November 29 through December 12 the Maple Leafs went on a small run in which they were 4-3 both straight up and against the board to get off to a decent start for the new regime.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the most popular teams on the hockey bet board, in large part because they have the National Hockey League’s most recognizable and best player in Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh’s hockey bet popularity, however, often causes a lack of value on the board.
The Penguins had an overall hockey bet mark of 16-9-1-3 straight up but just 14-15 against the hockey odds. The Penguins had a bad red ink hockey bet stretch from November 22 through December 11 in which they got the cash in just 4 out of 10 games.
The Penguins have been a surprise “under” hockey bet team with a mark of 13-16 under the total. From November 29 through December 11 the Penguins went under the total in 4 out of 7 games.
