Hockey bet handicappers that have been around the game for a long time always look forward to this matchup. The Flyers and Devils have consistently been two of the most respected teams year after year on the hockey betting boards.
The Philadelphia Flyers have long been a hockey bet destination for many of the general public that lacks expertise in hockey betting. This goes back to the Flyers’ days as the “Broad Street Bullies” which made them one of the most popular teams in the National Hockey League with a reputation that lasts to this very day.
This does serve, however, to harm their overall hockey bet value, even in good years in which they contend. Much like the Detroit Red Wings, the Flyers are about as close to a hockey betting version of “America’s Team” as you can find.
Hockey bet fans have been pleasantly surprised by the Flyers’ improvement this season although it hasn’t been reflected on the hockey odds board this year. Philadelphia had an overall hockey bet record of 15-7-4-2 straight up but just 12-16 against the hockey odds.
The Flyers did, however, go on a nice hockey bet run from November 22 through December 11 in which they were 7-3 both straight up and against the hockey bet board. The New Jersey Devils have been one of the most respected and consistent teams on the hockey bet boards through the years and this season has been no different.
The Devils had an overall hockey bet mark of 16-8-1-1 straight up and 15-11 against the hockey bet board. New Jersey went on a blistering streak from November 15 through December 12 in which they were 9-1 both straight up and against the lines. The Devils had a home over under mark of 8-5-1 over the total.
The Devils are strong on both sides of the red line as they ranked 8th on offense and 7th on defense.
