Hockey bet handicappers will have their choice of two of the top hockey wagering teams from the Eastern Conference. The Montreal Canadiens have one of the best straight up hockey bet records in the National Hockey League but that has not translated into good hockey wagering value.
Montreal had an overall hockey bet record of 26-11-2-4 straight up but was a bankroll busting 16-27 against the hockey lines. Much of this discrepancy has to do with Montreal carrying so much hockey bet popularity and respect with gamblers, which causes their price on the board to go way up, beyond what it actually should be.
This has the effect of making a rare Montreal loss quite expensive to their hockey wagering backers. Montreal has been on a strong hockey bet run as of late as from December 27 through January 15 the Habs went 8-2. Montreal was strong on both ends of the ice as they ranked 8th overall on offense while ranking 6th overall on defense.
Robert Lang and Andrei Markov have been Montreal's top two hockey bet weapons. Lang led the Canadiens in points with 34 and goals with 16. Markov was a great quarterback and led in assists with 27. Carey Price was having an All Star season in goal with a .921 save percentage and a 2.30 goals against average.
The New Jersey Devils have been a better hockey bet value this year than Montreal. The Devils had an overall hockey bet record of 26-15-1-2 straight up and 23-20 against the hockey lines. Like the Habs, the Devils are strong on both ends of the ice ranking 10th overall on offense while ranking 5th overall on defense.
Patrick Elias and Zach Parise have been the main hockey bet weapons on offense for the Devils. Elias led the team in goals with 19 while Parise led in assists with 25. Scott Clemmensen has been an unexpected hockey bet asset in goal with a 2.40 goals against average.
