Super Bowl odds respect is also high for the Pittsburgh defense and many bargain hunters believe the Steel Curtain may prove to offer outstanding Super Bowl betting value.

Super Bowl XLV will take place on Sunday from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.  Sports Gambling opened with the Green Bay Packers as 2.5 point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers with an over under of 44.  FOX will televise the game with a kickoff time set for 6:30 PM ET.

Green Bay’s Super Bowl gambling offensive credentials are indeed quite impressive.  The Packers ranked 9th overall in the NFL for total offense.  The Pack ranked a highly impressive 5th in the NFL for passing but was a subpar 24th in the NFL for rushing.  Green Bay ranked 10th in the league for scoring offense.

Pittsburgh brings what could be considered even more impressive credentials with the NFL Super Bowl odds for defense as they ranked 2nd overall in the NFL for total defense.  Pittsburgh was a rock ribbed number one in the NFL against the rush but 12th against the pass.  Overall the Steelers ranked best in the NFL for points allowed.

The one clear matchup that would therefore seem to favor the Packers with the Super Bowl odds is their passing attack with quarterback Aaron Rodgers against that Pittsburgh pass defense.  The problem is that the Steelers can basically defend the run as an afterthought and instead focus with an overload of pass defense as the Packers ground attack has proven to be less than a consistent threat.

This could leave Rodgers vulnerable as he will have to continue to shoulder the offensive burden himself in order for Green Bay to beat the Super Bowl betting line.   On the other hand Green Bay is never out of a game with Rodgers over center.

One intangible that Pittsburgh brings is better experience than the Packers, who have not made a Super Bowl since the 1997 season.  Pittsburgh’s defense is also well seasoned with plenty of Super Sunday experience as the Steelers will be making their third appearance with the Super Bowl odds in the last six seasons.
