The 9-5 Pittsburgh Steelers are half a game behind Cincinnati for the AFC North title and hold a wild card spot. The 8-6 Kansas City Chiefs are out of the AFC West running but they are still one of three teams just one game out of the wild card picture. This game between the two will be do-or-die for the Chiefs while the Steelers will have a shot to possibly take the lead in their division depending on what the Bengals do.
The Steelers are riding on two wins in a row but Ike Taylor and James Harrison, two defensive players who were inactive last week against Atlanta, have not appeared to have improved in terms of their injuries. Their status for the game has not been released by the Steelers as of Thursday afternoon.
Ben Roethlisberger is running the NFL's second-most efficient passing game this year. He has 4,415 passing yards any only eight interceptions against 29 touchdowns. Antonio Brown has accounted for about a third of Big Ben's passing total and also for eleven touchdowns.
The Kansas City Chiefs snapped a three game losing streak last week when they beat Oakland. A few offensive players are listed as questionable with Jamaal Charles being the most noteworthy of them all. Charles has 950 rushing yards this year. Dwayne Bowe and Anthony Fasano are also questionable. Bowe has 667 receiving yards and Fasano has four touchdowns.
Justin Houston is tied for the lead in the NFL with seventeen sacks this year. He made up for nearly half of the 38 sacks that the Chiefs have this season. Tamba Hali's six is the closest that anyone on the team is to him. Also, Kicker Cairo Santos had a streak of fourteen consecutive field goals heading into last week but he only made one of his three attempts last week. All but one of his attempts of less than 40 yards have been good this year.
Pittsburgh currently has a -3 advantage at Heinz Field. The over/under is also at 46.5 points.
