The Houston Texans are coming off a 20-0 shutout home payout over the Tennessee Titans last week which snapped a horrible 4 game losing streak and improved their record to 5-6 both straight up and with the NFL gambling odds.  Houston is just 1 game behind AFC South Division leading Jacksonville and Indianapolis.

The shutout was something of a surprise in that the Texans are ranked near the bottom of the NFL for total defense and 26th for points allowed.  Houston has gone over the total in 7 of their 11 games including 4 of 5 on the road.

Quarterback Matt Schaub has slipped a notch this year although he still has a good 92.6 rating with a 15/7 touchdown/interception ratio.  Arian Foster has been the big surprise for Houston as the undrafted free agent has 1147 yards rushing with a 5.1 yards per carry average and 12 touchdowns.

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 31-26 loss at Chicago and now stand with a record of 7-4 straight up and 5-6 with the NFL betting lines.  The loss snapped a 3 game winning streak and the Eagles are now tied with the New York Giants for first place in the NFC East Division.

Philadelphia was projected to be a rebuilding team this year as coach Andy Reid did a massive roster overhaul in the offseason that is paying big dividends as the Eagles are ranked 2nd for total offense and 10th for total defense.  The big success story of course has been Michael Vick.

Vick has a 106 QB rating and 13/1 TD/INT ratio while having an 8.3 yards per pass average.  He is also 2nd on the team in rushing behind Sean McCoy, who has 779 yards and a 5.0 yards per carry average.

Philadelphia has covered the NFL odds in just 2 of their last 6 games at home.
