NFL odds popularity is high for the Packers based on their exceptional team balance and an improved defense that could prove to be the key to playoff success with the NFL lines.

The Green Bay Packers will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday with a telecast on FOX set for 1 PM.  Be sure and check Sports-Gambling for the side and over/under odds on this important NFC matchup.

The San Francisco 49ers are just 1 game out of a playoff spot with their record of 4-7 both straight up and with the NFL gambling odds.  That is because the 49ers play in the pathetic NFC West that is lead by 5-6 Seattle and St. Louis.  The 49ers are coming off a 27-6 win at Arizona on Monday night which was their 3rd win in 4 games.

The 49ers have had their season turn around with a jumpstart by Troy Smith, who took over for Alex Smith as quarterback.  Troy has an 84.1 QB rating and has thrown just 2 interceptions in 4 games.  Leading rusher Frank Gore is out for the season at running back but Brian Westbrook stepped in at Arizona with 126 yards rushing a 1 TD.

The 49ers defense has kept them in games most of the year as it ranks 11th overall in the NFL.  The 49ers have an even 5-5-1 split on totals this year.

The Green Bay Packers have a record of 7-4 straight up and 6-5 with the NFL betting lines.  The Packers have gone under the total in 8 of 11 games this year and are coming off a 20-17 loss at Atlanta last week.

Defense has also been the hallmark of the Packers as they rank best in the NFL for points against while the offense has struggled with a 23rd ranked running attack that has put more of a burden on quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom has a 97.4 QB rating and a 20/9 TD/INT ratio.

The Pack is 1 game behind Chicago for first place in the NFC North.  The injury to running back Ryan Grant has been a key factor in the rushing attack as nobody has stepped up to fill the void.

San Francisco has beaten the NFL odds in just 1 of their last 6 games at Green Bay.
