NFL football gambling handicappers had the Jets as one of the betting on NFL football favorites to win the division but they trail the 2-0 Dolphins for first place.

Sports-Gambling opened with Miami as a 1-point favorite and with an over/under of 35.  Kickoff is at 8:25 PM Eastern.

The Jets scored an important bounceback win with the NFL lines last week in a 28-14 payout over AFC East rival New England as 3-point home dogs to even their record out at 1-1 both straight up and against the spread.

The game served as something of a coming out party for much maligned 2nd year starting quarterback Mark Sanchez as he hit on 21-30 passes for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns to cap off his best day yet as a pro.  The Jets defense was in full swagger mode with 3 forced turnovers while holding New England to 52 yards rushing.

LaDanian Tomlinson had a strong game at running back with 76 yards on 11 carries including a critical 4th down conversion late in the game to ice the win.

The Miami Dolphins are 2-0 both straight up and with the NFL gambling odds as they beat the Minnesota Vikings 14-10 as 5.5-point road dogs.  Both of Miami’s games have gone under the total.  The Dolphins defense is looking much like its famed “No Name” defense forefathers of the 1970’s as it ranks 2nd in the NFL for points permitted.

The offense ranks 7th in rushing but just 28th in passing so far.  Chad Henne passed for 114 yards and 1 touchdown in the win last week.

The Jets have failed to cover their last 3 NFL football gambling matchups with Miami but have had significant long term success at Miami with 6 payouts in their last 7 visits and 15 covers in their last 20 games overall at Miami.  The Jets have covered 5 out of their last 6 road games with 3 of their last 4 away from home going over the total.

Miami has struggled at home with just 6 payouts in their last 20 games and 4 failures in their last 5 as a host.  Just 1 out of Miami’s last 8 home games has gone under the total.
