NFL betting expectations continue to climb for the Houston Texans as they are off to a fine start in their quest to make the football betting post season for the first time ever.
The Texans will host the Giants Sunday with a FOX telecast at 1:05 PM Eastern. Sports-Gambling opened with Houston as a 3 point home favorite.
The New York Giants have a record of 2-2 both straight up and with the NFL odds. The Giants are coming off a 17-3 Sunday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears as 3.5 point favorites that they absolutely had to have or they may have had their season totally unravel.
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell’s unit had its best performance of the season and now ranks 3rd in the NFL for total defense, a significant improvement over last year. The offense ranks 7th in yards but just 21st for scoring.
Eli Manning has a mediocre 81.2 quarterback rating and a poor 5/6 touchdown/interception ratio as he is continuing his erratic play from the second half of last year. Ahmad Bradshaw has been highly effective out of the backfield with a 5.1yards per carry average and 3 touchdowns.
The Houston Texans have a record of 3-1 both straight up and with the football odds. Houston scored a 31-24 win and payout at Oakland last week as 3.5 point favorites and went over the total for the 3rd time this season.
The Texans have found a running game from the surprising commodity of Arian Foster, who has 537 yards and a 6.3 yards per carry average with 4 touchdowns. Matt Schaub has a 95.6 quarterback rating and a 7/4 TD/INT ratio. The defense is what could end up costing Houston a playoff spot as it ranks dead last in the NFL.
The Giants have a tough assignment as Fewell’s unit will have to continue its improvement against one of the top offensive units in the league. Manning’s inconsistent play is becoming a concern and if he is not in top form against Schaub and Houston it make be impossible for Big Blue to leave with a win.
The Giants have been a poor value lately with just 4 NFL betting payouts in their last 15 games.
