NFL Betting - Cleveland at Tampa Bay

NFL betting excitement on opening day includes two teams that look to be rebuilding in 2010 as Tampa Bay hosts Cleveland in the NFL gambling opener for both teams.

NFL betting handicappers have been impressed with reports out of Cleveland that indicate a new sense of professionalism and potential NFL gambling value.

Sports-Gambling.com opened with Tampa Bay as a 3-point favorite and with a total of 37. Kickoff is at 1:05 PM Eastern.

The Cleveland Browns had a highly successful offseason and training camp. The big addition was veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme from the Carolina Panthers. Delhomme’s career crashed last year as he had the worst season of his career. So far in Cleveland Delhomme has looked newly polished and highly effective.

He has also brought a much needed veteran presence to the young Cleveland team and a work ethic that has rubbed off on the rest of the squad. “Being in a new place is the biggest factor in putting last season behind me,” said Delhomme. “I believe in having fun. We’re out there playing a kid’s game. I’m having a whole lot of fun.”

Delhomme was razor sharp in preseason as he completed 38 out of 48 passes. Teammates have been highly complementary of Delhomme. “What’s key to me is leading the offense,” said wideout Joshua Cribbs.

“He leads the team well and that’s what we look for him to do and he’s doing a good job.” The Browns have beaten the NFL odds in 8 out of their last 11 games as a dog with 5 consecutive payouts.

Tampa Bay is coming off a 3-13 season in which rookie QB Josh Freeman had a rough year of the on the job training. Head coach Raheem Morris said the goal for the Bucs is 10 wins this year. Freeman was 3-6 as the starter last year but is ready for 2010. “It’s my team and I want to win,” said Freeman.

“I want to get things done the right way.” Tampa Bay has beaten the NFL lines in just 2 out of their last 7 games as a favorite with 3 straight failures heading into this matchup in that role.

Tampa Bay has covered the last 2 NFL betting matchups in their series with Cleveland as both games went over the total. The teams last met in 2006 with Tampa Bay scoring a 22-7 road win.
