NFL betting excitement is growing for the Bengals and their chances to repeat as AFC North champions as they are an improved NFL gambling commodity.
After losing the Hall of Fame Game preseason opener 16-7 to the Dallas Cowboys the Bengals struck back with consecutive wins over the Denver Broncos (33-24) and the Philadelphia Eagles (22-9) as they got the cash in both games.
One of the biggest areas of improvement for the Bengals is the receiving corps as Terrell Owens has arrived from Buffalo to pair up with established Cincinnati star Chad Ochocinco to give the Bengals added weaponry for quarterback Carson Palmer.
Owens reminded everyone why he will make Cincinnati a more dangerous team with the NFL betting odds as he hauled in a 43 yard pass down the sideline against the Eagles which set up the only Bengal touchdown.
Owens was quite sarcastic after the game with a basic “I told you so” moment.
“According to sources and anybody that analyzes talent or what have you, I’m 36, I’ve slowed down, I don’t have it anymore,” clowned Owens.
Overall Owens finished with 3 catches for 67 yards and made handicappers re-evaluate the Bengals chances in a tough division that includes Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
Most observers and experts consider Cincinnati a better team than last year. Palmer was quite definitive about that.
“We’re better than we were last season,” said the quarterback.
Coach Marv Lewis added, “We were a better football team than when we started back March 29 than the one that ended the season.”
The Bengals lost their playoff game at home to the Jets last year in an upset with the NFL betting lines but they had 5 defensive players out with injuries. Everyone is back in camp healthy this year and the offense is much more talented with Owens, rookie tight end Jermaine Gresham, and receivers Matt Jones and Jordan Shipley to make for a deep roster.
Palmer had limited options last year and was forced to try and rely on Ochocinco, who was nearly always double covered. With the additional weapons Palmer could be slated to have his best season ever.
Cincinnati will play at Buffalo on Saturday in their next NFL betting exhibition before concluding preseason September 2 at Indianapolis.
