NFL lines will also have to factor in the equation of a new head coach as Rex Ryan has arrived as the head man for the 2009 NFL gambling season. The Jets will give a good hard look to a trio of quarterbacks against the NFL lines in preseason with rookie Mark Sanchez getting the first shot at taking the starting gig this NFL gambling preseason.
Sanchez will enter preseason action against the NFL lines as the Jets number one draft pick in this past spring’s draft and as the 5th overall selection on the board.
Sanchez, you may recall, was somewhat thrown under the bus by his college coach Pete Carroll who stated that the quarterback would be better off with another season at USC rather than coming out early against the NFL lines.
Sanchez will get every opportunity against the NFL lines to keep the top job as the Jets obviously have a lot invested in him. Kellen Clemens is currently listed as number 2 on the depth chart. Clemens is a 4 year pro out of Oregon that was a 2nd round draft pick of the Jets in 2006.
He logged a lot of playing time against the NFL lines in 2007 but was ineffective. Overall Clemens has a career quarterback rating of just 59 against the NFL lines with 5 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He will see a lot of action against the preseason NFL lines.
Erik Ainge is third on the Jets quarterback depth chart entering training camp. Ainge is a 2 year pro out of Tennessee and was a 5th round pick of the Jets in 2008. He is yet to see action in a regular season game.
The Jets figure to improve on defense as that is Ryan’s specialty. Darrelle Revis, a 3 year pro out of Pittsburgh, is a man to watch as he led the Jets with 5 interceptions last year with 1 touchdown.
