NFL gambling value this preseason on the Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars has been mixed against the NFL lines as both teams struggle straight up. The Washington Redskins are 1-2 straight up but 2-1 against the spread in the NFL gambling preseason.
The Redskins have gone under the over/under NFL lines in 2 out of their 3 exhibition games. Last week the Redskins lost at home to the New England Patriots 24-27 as 3.5 home dogs as the game went over the total of 37.5. The Redskins offense continues to be a NFL gambling point of concern as they rank 30th overall in exhibition scoring.
Offense was considered to be the Redskins weak link entering training camp. Starting quarterback Jason Campbell has looked as ordinary as ever in the NFL gambling preseason with a quarterback rating of 73.2. Colt Brennan and Todd Collins have been dreadful in the NFL gambling preseason with QB ratings of 35.2 and 58.1 respectively.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-3 straight up and 1-1-1 against the preseason NFL gambling board. The Jaguars have gone over the NFL gambling total in 2 out of their 3 exhibition games. Last week Jacksonville lost at Philadelphia 32-33 as 7.5 road dogs with the game soaring over the total of 37.5.
The poor NFL gambling preseason has turned up the hot seat for beleaguered head coach Jack Del Rio, who was already under fire entering training camp for the poor finish to the 2008 campaign.
The Jaguars rank a solid 7th for points scored in preseason play but their defense has been a point of concern as it ranks 26th in points allowed and 24th in yards allowed. Jacksonville has struggled on the ground but has gotten competent quarterbacking from David Garrard who has a QB rating of 86.7.
Troy Williamson has been an impressive receiver with 8 catches for 232 yards and a TD. If ever there was a team that could use an exhibition win its Jacksonville as this preseason has done nothing to inspire confidence so far.
