NFL gambling fans were particularly impressed with the explosive Atlanta offense that was the main ingredient to their success against the NFL lines. As Atlanta prepares for the NFL gambling preseason their main priority is to tighten up their defense.
If they succeed they stand an excellent chance to improve against the NFL lines and go deeper into the post season. Quarterback Matt Ryan, a 2 year pro out of Boston College, proved to be one of the rare exceptions in NFL gambling as he had a successful rookie season as the starter for all 16 games.
He finished with an 88 quarterback rating and had 16 touchdown passes with just 11 interceptions. Chris Redman is number 2 on Atlanta’s NFL gambling quarterback depth chart. Redman is a 7 year pro out of Louisville that came to the Falcons in the 2007 NFL gambling campaign.
He did not see action for Atlanta last year. Redman has never panned out or lived up to his potential as a draftee and has a quarterback rating for his career of 80 with 17 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He should see considerable playing time in the NFL gambling preseason.
DJ Shockley, a 3 year pro out of Georgia, will also see plenty of action during the NFL gambling exhibition campaign. Shockley was a 7th round pick of the Falcons in 2006 and has never played in a regular season game over center.
Atlanta certainly tried to address their defensive weaknesses in the draft as their first 5 selections were on the defensive side of the line. All draftees should get plenty of NFL gambling preseason action. Defensive end Peria Jerry was the number one draft pick for Atlanta out of Ole Miss.
William Moore was the 2nd round pick at safety out of Missouri. Cornerback Christopher Owens went in the 3rd round out of San Jose State. Defensive end Lawrence Sidbury, Jr went 4th from Richmond, and Furman cornerback William Middleton went number 5 for Atlanta.
