NFL gambling has been consistently inconsistent with the San Diego Chargers who are 4-3 straight up but just 2-5 with the NFL odds. The Chargers have gone under the NFL gambling total in just 2 games this year.
Last year both the Chargers and Giants were NFL gambling playoff teams and they entered this season as favorites with the NFL odds to win their respective divisions. That NFL gambling perception and landscape has quickly changed, however.
The Chargers are coming off back to back straight up NFL gambling wins including last week over the Oakland Raiders 24-16 but San Diego failed to cover the NFL odds as 16-point home favorites. The Chargers rank a respectable 10th in NFL gambling for points scored but rank a poor 21st overall for points allowed.
Defense remains San Diego’s NFL gambling weakness. The New York Giants are 5-3 straight up and 4-3-1 with the NFL gambling board. Their three consecutive losses came at New Orleans and then at home to Arizona and last week to Philadelphia 17-40 as 1-point NFL gambling home favorites.
The Giants have gone under the NFL gambling total in just 2 games this year. Two of the most renowned quarterbacks will compete in this matchup with Philip Rivers of the Chargers and Eli Manning of the Giants. Manning has struggled as of late with just 3 touchdown passes and 6 interceptions during the Giants losing streak.
Manning refuses to admit he is in a slump, however. “I’m not going to label it as that,” said the Giants signal caller. “I know I can play better and that I have to play better.” “We’re not in a panic mode, but we do need to get better,” said Manning of the Giants losing streak, “and this week is going to be a big week for us.”
San Diego has covered just 3 out of their last 10 on the road while the Giants have covered just 2 out of their last 6 at home.
