NFL gambling fans saw the 49ers close last season strong and with momentum against the NFL lines after Singletary took over in mid season. San Francisco has plenty to accomplish and work on for the NFL gambling preseason starting with their quarterback situation.
The quarterback battle could pose significant intangibles against the preseason NFL lines. Shaun Hill, a 4 year pro out of Maryland, opens the NFL gambling preseason as the number one quarterback. Hill finished the 2008 NFL gambling campaign as the starter and was a major ingredient in the 49ers success.
San Francisco failed to cover just 2 out of their final 8 NFL gambling appearances with Hill over center. Hill finished with an 87.5 quarterback rating with 13 touchdown passes and 8 interceptions. Alex Smith has been touted, however, as a potential threat to take the NFL gambling starting quarterback job.
Smith was the first player taken in the 2005 draft and has had a star crossed/injury plagued career. His career NFL gambling quarterback rating is a poor 63.5 with 19 touchdown passes and 31 interceptions.
Smith will be given plenty of opportunity in the NFL gambling preseason to show that he is ready to improve and flourish in a “second chance” to his career. Damon Huard has played 8 NFL seasons and arrived in the off season from the Kansas City Chiefs. He is currently 3rd on the 49ers depth chart for quarterback.
Huard has a career quarterback rating of 80.6 with 33 touchdown passes and 26 interceptions. Huard also figures to get plenty of preseason playing time. Michael Crabtree was the 49ers first round draft pick last April.
Crabtree is an explosive wide receiver out of Texas Tech that caught 231 passes in 2 seasons for 3127 yards and 41 touchdowns. He is the playmaking threat that the 49ers have needed for several seasons and should get his share of preseason snaps this summer.
