NFL football gambling handicappers were impressed with both the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Texans in their preseason debuts against the NFL lines. The Houston Texans scored an impressive 16-10 win and cover last week in their NFL football gambling exhibition opener at Kansas City against the Chiefs as 3-point road dogs with the game going over the over/under NFL lines set at 37.5.
Houston was slightly outgained by the Chiefs 280-307 but held a +3 turnover advantage. The Texans held the Chiefs highly touted starting quarterback Matt Cassel to just 15 yards passing as he went just 2-5. Ryan Moats had an impressive NFL football gambling performance out of the backfield for the Texans as he rushed for 52 yards on 10 attempts.
Backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky was 9-20 for 121 yards. The New Orleans Saints opened the NFL football gambling preseason at home with a 17-7 win and cover over the Cincinnati Bengals as 3-point favorites as the game went under the total of 37.5.
Mark Brunell had an impressive NFL football gambling performance for the Saints has he went 9-13 for 128 yards and 1 touchdown. Drew Brees was also impressive in limited NFL football gambling action as he went 6-9 for 88 yards and 1 touchdown.
Robert Meachem was impressive in the NFL football gambling opening win as he caught 3 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown while Jeremy Shockey caught 3 passes for 61 yards and a TD. Shockey was injured for the 2008 NFL football gambling season and his return will be a key to the Saints quest for a playoff spot.
You can again expect Brunell to get plenty of work for the Saints as Brees is clearly the starter and they will not want to expose him to potential injury. The same is true for Houston as Orlovsky will take a lot of snaps along with 3rd stringer Rex Grossman.
This should be an excellent matchup of two up and coming contenders with explosive offensive attacks.
