NFL Betting Odds - Chargers at Cardinals

NFL betting odds will bet set for a pair of playoff teams that came off NFL gambling failures in the first week of preseason action.

NFL betting odds for the San Diego at Arizona matchup will be based on a NFL gambling matchup of veteran teams that want to enter the regular season without major injury.  Last week the San Diego Chargers were beaten by the NFL betting odds in a 14-20 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks as 3.5-point favorites as the game went under the NFL gambling total of 36.5.

San Diego actually outgained the Seahawks by a significant 384-250 yard advantage but Seattle was effective in piercing the San Diego secondary as the Seahawks threw for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns against the NFL betting odds.  San Diego was also ineffective on the ground against the NFL betting odds as they had just 55 yards on 21 attempts.

The Chargers were also sacked 4 times while compiling 0 sacks of their own.  San Diego played Charlie Whitehurst for much of the game at quarterback against the NFL betting odds and he went 15-29 for 193 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  Charly Martin was the top receiver with 5 catches for 67 yards.

The Arizona Cardinals lost at the Pittsburgh Steelers 10-20 as 3-point dogs with the game going under the NFL betting odds total of 33.5.  Arizona actually outgained the Steelers 259-190 and held a 22-13 edge in first downs but was -2 in turnover ratio.

Tyler Palko and Matt Leinart saw most of the action against the NFL betting odds in that exhibition opener.  Palko was 8-15 for 103 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception while Leinart was 8-14 for 83 yards.

The Cardinals were also sacked 4 times while compiling 0 sacks of their own which was another factor in their loss against the NFL betting odds.  The Cardinals were looking to improve their ground attack this preseason but were only average as they amassed 70 yards on 16 attempts against Pittsburgh.

Steve Breaston and Lance Long each caught 5 passes for Arizona.  This is a matchup of veteran teams with fairly set lineups.  San Diego wants to improve on defense and Arizona wants to improve their ground attack which makes for a direct preseason priority conflict in this one!
