Football odds excitement is again high as the Steelers have a shot for their third Super Bowl of the decade if they can score a win with the NFL betting odds on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the New York Jets on Sunday with a start time of 6:35 PM ET and a telecast on CBS.  Sports Gambling opened with Pittsburgh as a 3 point favorite and with a total of 38.5.

Pittsburgh scored a 31-24 payout with the NFL lines last week over the Baltimore Ravens as a 3.5 point home favorite as the game went over the total of 37.5.  The win in that divisional playoff matchup proved the mettle of the Steelers as Baltimore may not have been the top seed in the AFC but was nonetheless a respected team that was considered to be a bona fide threat to win the Super Bowl.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has shaken off the distractions of his problems with the law in preseason and his 4 game suspension to start the season as he has again proven to be a key asset with the football betting lines.  Roethlisberger passed for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns last week in the win over the Ravens.  Roethlisberger finished the season with a 97.0 QB rating and a 17/5 TD/INT ratio as he has cut down on mistakes.

Rashard Mendenhall was also a key asset last week with his late touchdown run from inside the 5 yard line as he went left, slammed on the breaks, and then powered his way into the end zone to seal the deal over Baltimore.  Mendenhall rushed for 1273 yards this season and 13 touchdowns.

The Steel Curtain Defense is another key asset with the conference championship odds as it held Baltimore to just 35 yards rushing and 91 yards passing last week while compiling 5 sacks on the afternoon and forcing 3 turnovers.  Pittsburgh’s defense ranked 2nd overall in the NFL and 1st for points allowed.

Mike Wallace is the deep threat that any title contender needs to beat the football odds.  Wallace had 1257 yards receiving and a 20.9 yards per catch average with 10 touchdowns.
