Football odds handicapping in the post season often comes down to defense and Chicago’s unit is one of the elite forces in the game with the NFL betting odds.

The Chicago Bears will host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game with a telecast on FOX set to begin at 3:05 PM ET.  Sports Gambling opened with the Bears as a 3 point home dog and with a total of 43.5.

Chicago dominated Seattle last week in the divisional playoffs for an easy 35-24 payout with the NFL lines that was not as close as the final score indicated.  The game went over the total of 42.5.  The Bears held Seattle to 34 yards rushing while the Seahawks passed for 242 yards, but most of that was against a prevent defense as the Bears opened up a 35-10 lead in the 4th quarter.

Jay Cutler was in championship form as quarterback last week as he passed for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns while WR Greg Olsen had 113 yards receiving with a TD.

The offense was up and mostly down this season as Mike Martz struggled in his first year as coordinator to get the unit on track, but it has shown improvement down the stretch with the football betting lines as the Bears have covered 4 consecutive games.

Cutler has also taken to the teaching of Martz as he has cut down on his mistakes of last year and finished with a QB rating of 86.3 with a 23/16 touchdown to interception ratio.  Last year without Martz as offensive coordinator, Cutler had a 76.8 QB rating and a 27/26 touchdown to interception ratio.

The key asset the Bears will have with the conference championship odds however will be their defense that ranked 9th overall in the NFL and 4th for points allowed.  Chicago also has excellent special teams that can both steal and seal a game.  Robbie Gould is a premier clutch kicker that could ice a game for the Bears if needed and was 25-30 on field goals this year to rank as a key asset with the football odds.
