Football gambling handicappers have been impressed with the hard play of the Oakland Raiders who have shown solid NFL sports betting improvement.
The 49ers will host the Raiders on Sunday. San Francisco opened as a 6 point favorite over Oakland at Sports-Gambling with an over/under of 40.5. Kickoff on CBS is scheduled for 4:10 PM Eastern.
The Oakland Raiders have a record of 2-3 both straight up and with the pro football betting lines. Oakland has gone over the total in 4 out of 5 games. Last week Oakland upset San Diego 35-27 as 7 point home dogs to snap a 2 game losing streak.
Special teams and turnovers were the key in the win over San Diego and Jason Campbell came off the bench to lead two 2nd half scoring drives as quarterback for the injured Bruce Gradkowski. Michael Bush ran for 104 yards while Campbell passed for 159 yards and a touchdown.
Oakland has a much improved offense this year that ranks 11th in the NFL for scoring while the defense is still struggling and ranks 28th for points allowed. McFadden has 392 yards rushing for the season. Gradkowski is questionable for Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers are imploding in front of the entire nation and have a record of 0-5 straight up and 2-3 with the NFL gambling odds as they have gone under the total in just 1 game so far this season. The winning formula of a power running game and strong defense that made them an 8-8 team in 2009 has deserted San Francisco this year.
The 49ers rank 30th in the NFL for rushing and 31st in scoring. The defense ranks 27th for points allowed.
Quarterback Alex Smith, who had a great comeback season last year, was awful in last week’s 27-24 loss to Philadelphia as his fumble that was returned for a touchdown nearly got him pulled as he argued with embattled head coach Mike Singletary. Smith will start Sunday but his job is in jeopardy.
Oakland has played better football than San Francisco and the 49ers are in such a hole that their sense of urgency may be lacking. On the other hand San Francisco has nothing to lose which could make them a dangerous football gambling commodity.
