Football gambling disgust is building for the Miami Dolphins as they have been near totally inept and ineffective in NFL gambling action at home and are finished in their quest for a playoff spot.
The Miami Dolphins will host the Detroit Lions in an interconference matchup that will be telecast on FOX at 1 PM ET. Sports-Gambling opened with Miami as a 3.5 point favorite and with a total of 41.
Miami has a disappointing record of 7-7 straight up and 8-6 with the football betting odds with 9 of their games going under the total. The Dolphins have been abysmal at home with a mark of 2-5 against the spread while going 6-1 against the spread on the road. This game is their home finale as they will conclude the season at New England next week.
Miami’s home woes continued last week in a 17-14 loss to Buffalo as they went under the total for the 3rd consecutive game. Chad Henne has not cut it at quarterback as he has slipped to a 77.6 QB rating with a 14/16 TD/INT ratio and offensive coordinator Dan Henning is under intense fire.
The Fish rank 31st in the NFL for scoring which has wasted a fine effort by the defense that looks like the vintage “No Name” defense of the 1970’s as Miami ranks 4th overall and 8th for points allowed. The lack of a reliable passing attack has also harmed the ground game as Miami ranks 22nd for total rushing, a steep decline from 2009.
Detroit has a record of 4-10 straight up and 10-4 with the pro football betting lines while going under the total just 4 times. The Lions have gotten the money in 3 consecutive games and are coming off a 23-20 win at Tampa Bay.
Detroit has shown marked improvement over last year and has been a delight for bargain hunting handicappers. Drew Stanton has played well at QB the past 2 weeks and the defense has allowed just 23 points the past 2 games.
Miami has covered the last 3 football gambling matchups in this series and is 2-1 against the spread at home against the Lions with 2 of those games going over the total.
