Football gambling expectations are again rising for the Dallas Cowboys after their stellar NFL betting performance last week in Jason Garrett’s debut as head coach.
The Dallas Cowboys will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday with kickoff set for 1:05 PM Eastern Time and a telecast on FOX. Sports-Gambling opened with the Cowboys as a 6.5 point favorite and with an over/under of 47.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a smashing 33-20 payout with the NFL gambling odds over the New York Giants last week as 11.5 point road dogs as they came out with their best effort of the season under new head coach Jason Garrett.
Dallas now stands at 2-7 both straight up and against the spread with 7 of their games going under the total. The Cowboys have failed to get the money in their 4 previous home games with all 4 games going over the total.
The big question facing handicappers in this one is if Dallas is ready to make efforts like last week a way of life or if it was a one game aberration. Garrett’s future depends on consistent success the rest of the way.
There are few bright spots with Dallas, especially with quarterback Tony Romo out with an injury, but Jon Kitna played his best game of the season last week with 327 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Again, it’s going to be a question of which Kitna and which Cowboys gamblers will get.
The Detroit Lions are coming off an opposite type of week from Dallas as they had their worst performance of the season with the NFL gambling lines in a 14-12 loss at lowly Buffalo, who scored their first straight up win of the year.
Detroit has shown excellent board value as a hard fighting and improving team and that is what made last week’s setback such a stunning surprise. Matthew Stafford is out yet again at quarterback with an injury and Shaun Hill will get the start.
Hills has played most of the season and Detroit ranks 11th in the NFL for points allowed. The defense ranks 20th for points allowed.
This football gambling series has gone over the total in 4 of the last 5 matchups.
