Football Gambling - Bears at Panthers

Football gambling handicappers are still bullish on the Chicago Bears despite their NFL gambling loss last week at the New York Giants.

Football gambling has few teams as unappealing as the Carolina Panthers as they are yet to score a straight up win and have just one NFL gambling payout.

The Carolina Panthers will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday with a scheduled kickoff at 1:05 PM Eastern.  Sports-Gambling opened with Chicago as a 2.5 point road favorite.  The game will be telecast by FOX.

The Carolina Panthers have a record of 0-4 straight up and 1-3 with the football odds with 3 of their 4 games going under the total.  Carolina is coming off a 16-14 loss at New Orleans in their best effort of the season as they got the money as 12.5 point road dogs.

The Panthers rank dead last in the NFL for scoring offense and rank just 21st for scoring defense.  Quarterback has been a team weakness since Jake Delhomme bombed out last year and new starter Matt Moore lasted just 2 games this year before losing the gig to rookie Jimmy Clausen.

Clausen has a bad 59.6 QB rating compared to Moore’s horrific 41.8.  DeAngelo Williams remains the top offensive producer with 4.8 yards per rush.  Head coach Jim Fox could be fired any week if the losses continue to mount.

The Chicago Bears have a record of 3-1 straight up and 2-2 with the NFL odds.  The Bears lost on Sunday Night Football to a desperate New York Giants team 17-3 as 3.5 point dogs as they went under the total for the 3rd time in 4 games.

Despite the setback the Bears have seen improved production from quarterback Jay Cutler who has a 102.2 QB rating.  While new offensive coordinator Mike Martz has improved Cutler’s numbers the running game has been abysmal and ranks next to last in the NFL.  The defense has been rock solid and ranks 8th for points allowed.

While the Bears would rate the edge this should be a desperate Carolina team that showed improvement last week against the Super Bowl champions. Chicago will need to reassure gamblers that last week was an aberration and not the start of inconsistency.

Chicago has covered just 1 out of the last 5 football gambling matchups in this head to head series.
