Football Betting - Cards in Fighting Mood

Football betting handicappers do not yet know what to make of the prospects of the Cardinals for the 2010 football gambling season as change is in the air.

Football betting questions abound for the Cardinals despite back-to-back playoff seasons as they will be without a key football gambling asset with the retirement of Kurt Warner.

Warner was a record setting quarterback that is a near certainty for the Hall of Fame.  He resurrected a career that looked dead when he took over for Leinart as the Cardinals starting quarterback and led Arizona to the Super Bowl in 2008.

Tension is high in Cardinals camp as there was a brawl at a practice incited by defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and offensive tackle Levi Brown.  Dockett apparently took a swipe at Leinart’s leg and Leinart threw the ball down in Dockett’s area.  Brown shoved Dockett, protecting his quarterback, and the brawl was on.

Dockett should have known better than to take a shot at Leinart, causing him to fall.  Preseason practices are quite clear about a hands off policy on all quarterbacks, especially the starters.

For his part Dockett did not really back down saying that the Cardinals must go all out at practice in order to be ready for the season.  Arizona is a second choice with the football odds behind the San Francisco49ers to win the NFC West.

“You can’t come out here and play 80 percent and hope to win our third division title,” said Dockett.  “It just don’t happen like that.”

Every day we step on the field, we have to go harder and harder and harder,” said Dockett.  “We got to treat them (teammates) like they’re the 49ers.  That’s the only way we are going to be able to back up all the great work and try to win our third title.”

Arizona beat the NFL lines in their preseason opener as they defeated the Houston Texans 19-16 as 3-point home dogs as the game went over the total of 33.

Leinart has vowed to take preseason games seriously as he prepares for the starting job.

“I’m definitely not taking preseason lightly,” said Leinart.  “I don’t think you ever do.  I’m going in knowing I’m not going to play a whole lot, but I want to take advantage of those opportunities.”

Arizona’s next football betting preseason matchup is August 23 at Tennessee.
