Football odds are in the red with both teams so far and neither club has looked like the preseason football betting favorites to win the AFC that they were. The Tennessee Titans have suffered a dramatic fall to the football odds this season.
Their football betting record is 0-5 straight up and 1-4 against the spread. Tennessee is coming off a football odds loss to Indianapolis last Sunday Night of 9-31. The Titans were the top seed with the AFC playoff football odds last year and have not recovered from their upset loss to Baltimore in the divisional round.
The Titans have gotten poor play from quarterback Kerry Collins who has a 67.4 quarterback rating that includes 7 interceptions. The defense has been just as bad with the football odds and ranks 25th overall in the league.
Despite the screaming demands of fans and the bad start, head coach Jeff Fisher plans to stick with Collins at quarterback over backup Vince Young. “Kerry is our starter and Vince is our backup”, said Fisher. “I’d be happy to field more questions about it, but I’ve made my point”.
“You can speculate all you want about how that’s going to affect the team, and how that’s going to happen”. The New England Patriots are coming off a crushing overtime loss to the football odds last week at Denver 17-20 to fall to 3-2 straight up and 2-3 against the spread.
Tom Brady has looked good but not great at quarterback so far for the Patriots as he has an 85.9 QB rating compared to 117.2 in his last full season in 2007. Brady has been inconsistent and that has been a major factor in New England’s problems with the football odds this year.
Brady and the Pats missed critical opportunities to bury the Broncos in last week’s loss to the football odds. “We had our chances and didn’t take advantage of them”, said head coach Bill Belichick. “We’ve got to be more productive. We’ve got to make plays, got to make them at the right time, and we have got to make them in critical situations”.
