Football Betting Raiders Preseason Roster Highlights

Football betting on the Oakland Raiders this year could be on one of the most interesting propositions of any team listed on the football odds board.

Football betting fans have not made much money off of the Raiders in recent years but there is cautious optimism against the football odds coming out of the Black Hole for 2009.  The Raiders may have an interesting battle for quarterback raging during the football betting preseason.

JaMarcus Russell, a 3 year pro out of LSU, is currently number one on the depth chart.  The Raiders made a huge investment on Russell making it his job to lose.  Russell was inconsistent against the football odds last year with a 77.1 quarterback rating and a 13/8 touchdown/interception ratio with 2423 yards passing.

Russell did improve as the 2008 football betting went on and he finished strong.  In the Raiders final 3 football betting appearances Russell had quarterback ratings of 85.7, 128.1, and 98.9 with a 6/2 touchdown/interception ratio.

The Raiders won 2 of out of those 3 football betting decisions and the finish turned Tom Cable from an interim head coach to full time boss.  If Russell falters this football betting season, however, veteran Jeff Garcia will be happy to take his job.

Garcia is an 11 year pro out of San Jose State and arrives after spending the last 2 football betting campaigns as the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Last year Garcia passed for 2712 yards and a 12/6 touchdown/interception ratio while finishing with a 90.2 quarterback rating.

Garcia went public and said that he should be number one on the football betting depth chart and that he is the best quarterback on the team.  Whether the quarterback is Russell or Garcia, the top target figures to be tight end Zach Miller, a 3 year pro out of Arizona State.

Miller caught 56 passes last year for 778 yards and 1 touchdown.  Running back Justin Fargas is another key component to the silver and black.  He rushed for 853 yards last year and a 3.9 yards per carry average with 1 touchdown.  The 7 year pro out of USC ran for 1009 yards in 2007 for Oakland. is your complete pro football wagering source.
