Football Betting Broncos Preseason Roster Highlights

Football betting on the Denver Broncos preseason will be on a team with a lot of questions and new faces to handicap against the football odds.

Football betting experts believe that Denver will still feature an explosive offense but that their defense remains highly questionable when evaluating the football odds.  The off season football betting news from Denver was big and frequent and started immediately after the regular season debacle in which they collapsed down the stretch against the football odds and blew what seemed to be a certain playoff spot.

Long time head coach Mike Shanahan paid for the collapse with his job and he was replaced by 32 year old football betting wonder boy Josh McDaniels.  McDaniels arrived from New England where he served the past few football betting seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach prior to that.

McDaniels immediately stated that he wanted to bring quarterback Matt Cassel with him for the 2009 football betting season, which served to enrage the starting quarterback at that time Jay Cutler.  Cutler was traded to Chicago for Kyle Orton, who is number one on the Bronco depth chart heading into the football betting preseason.

Orton is a 5 year pro out of Purdue and had another inconsistent season last year with a 79.6 quarterback rating and 2972 yards passing with an 18/12 touchdown/interception ratio.  The 2008 football betting season was Orton’s best, however, and it is expected that he will continue to improve under McDaniels.

His career 30/27 touchdown/interception ratio is a cause for concern.  Backing Orton up will be Chris Simms, who spent the 2008 football betting season as a backup on the Tennessee Titans.  Simms is a 7 year pro out of Texas and has had an injury plagued career.

He was the one time starter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but couldn’t hold on to the job.  He has a career quarterback rating of 71 with a 12/17 touchdown/interception ratio.  Brandon Marshall is the Broncos top wide receiver.

Last year Marshall caught 104 passes for 1265 yards and 6 touchdowns.  It will be an important preseason priority for him and Orton to get acclimated to one another.
