Football betting expectations have risen on Chicago thanks to the acquisition of quarterback Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos for a much needed dimension against the football odds. The Bears have always had one of the most respected defenses in all of football betting but their offense has often left a lot to be desired.
That will not be the case this year, however, as Cutler changes the dynamics of the Bears against the football odds and makes them a leading contender to take the NFC north division title this football betting season.
The Bears did not have draft choices in the first two rounds of this year’s draft but they did come up with a nice wide receiver in the third round as they picked Juaquin Iglesias of Oklahoma. He caught 74 passes last year for the Sooners which was good for 1150 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He should get plenty of football betting action in the preseason. While everyone is excited about Cutler’s arrival, he is not likely to get a lot of preseason football betting action although he may get a little more than the average starter as he must learn the Bears offense.
Backing up Cutler is 2nd year pro Caleb Hanie from Colorado State. He has never played a down in regular season football betting action and should get plenty of exhibition snaps to get him up to speed in case Cutler goes down.
Third on the Bears football betting depth chart at quarterback is Brett Basanez, who is something of a hometown hero as he played his college ball in suburban Chicago at Northwestern.
He is also a 2 year pro. Kevin Jones, a 6 year pro out of Virginia Tech, should see a fair amount of preseason football betting action as he is a backup running back. He averaged just 3.2 yards per carry last year but has a career mark of 4.0 yards per carry.
